| Who were Red Army Loud and Proud? |
Back in the early part of the 2005/06 season things were, not to put to fine a point on it, a bit crap at STFC. Relegation looked certain from a very early stage, the increasingly unpopular Andy King had been sacked and fans had all but begun to turn on each other as the feeling of negativity (which had started towards the end of the previous season) spread.
Some fans decided enough was enough and went on an impassioned online crusade, using the old Swindon Advertiser forum, to try and bring a bit of positivity and fun back to the County Ground. The aim was simple, be Loud and be Proud when at the ground, and bring back a bit of colour and fun to the place.

| History |
| The club and local media got behind the idea and Red Army Loud and Proud was launched as a “campaign” for the Port Vale game in October. Fans were encouraged to come in red if they wanted to and over 1500 red balloons were distributed to fans before the game.
Further games were used to being that bit of colour back to the ground in a attempt to recapture a bit of the old Ardiles days spirit, with ticker tape at the Bristol City home game, flags and banners on the empty Bank and a joint effort with Ultras Swindon at Yeovil.
The group went onto become more structured and organised mini bus trips to away games, such as MKDonalds in January 2007, displays using streamers at Bristol City and Accrington Stanley, launched the Number 12 shirt crowd surfer, the L&P Flag and a Latin banner to mark the 125th Anniversary of the club (in what was actually the 127th year of it’s existence!)
In the 2007/08 season the group began to lose it’s impetus as the club lurched from financial crisis to financial crisis, not helped by the fact that key members of the group became very involved in trying to persuade the then owners of the club to sell up. Because Red Army Loud and Proud had grown from a limited remit and had generally been seen as family orientated, a bit of fun and certainly not political, it became difficult for the group to continue within it’s constraints.
And so we come to the close season in 2008. The club seemingly secure, with good financial backing from new owners, a new positive broom having swept through the place. The time had come for L&P to pass it’s overall aim onto a new, yet familiar group, with a less formal structure. A time to embrace the new good things, remember the past and use all that is good about Swindon Town Football Club.
